UBER LINGUA is a growing movement of DJs, video artists and musicians based in various cities around Australia, who celebrate and promote contemporary multi-lingual music and culture. Leaving ‘world music’ for dust, Über Lingua’s music forms melt the languages of the world into one giant toastie of Hip-hop, Electronica, Afrobeat, Gypsy, Balkan, Baile Funk, Latin, Basque and Dub plus a zillion subgenres yet to be named. Sonic traditions are explored, communities are connected, and cultural movements given a healthy shove into the spotlight.
